My shoes (ordered 10th May when I picked up the Focus) are finally in at Halfords. About fucking time.

So………I contact Halfords on the 9th, asking for an update and I’m told that they’ve been trying to get hold of me for a few days. Hm…..the teo contact numbers and e-mail address they hold must be broken then…

I phone the branch. They are, spookily, just building it as I phone. Very odd if they’ve had it for days and have been trying to contact me. Hm.

They say it will be ready in 30 minutes and they’ll phone to tell me when it’s done. 1 hr 40 later, they phone.

I’m pick it up on Saturday. The duty manager comments that the auxiliary brake levers gave him major hassle to fit. I ruin his day by saying I’m taking them off at the first opportunity.

I have to order in shoes, as they don’t stock shoes. (I have free accessories to get)

So………..First impressions, three rides in. Should that be third impressions?

On the road, it’s fast as hell, though I have occasionally wished for an even bigger gear on road descents…

Offroad….well, it’s been ridden on rocky singletrack and fast farm roads, plus the local sketchy farm road descents and it’s a feeling of barely being in control.

The bars aren’t comfy….it needs new tape or gel inserts tbh.

The gears were set up by a mong – the chain slips off the big ring when shifting up, with worrying regularity. Hopefully I managed to fix that last night.

21lb’s of alu/carbon goodness. It’d be a shame to just use it to ride to work.

Riding to work starts shortly, maybe after I start my new job on the 26th.

So, here we are, the day before the latest stated delivery date and no word from Halfords.

No later than 9th May? Hm…..we’ll see.

After chasing for an update (again…they’re no good at keeping you informed), the estimated delivery date is “no later than 09/05/2008″. That’s the Friday after SSUK08.

Woot and all that.

Now we just have the accessories aspect to sort….

After hassling for an answer, it’s been confirmed that the order is in.

Now, Wiggle need to invoice Halfords ASAP, so that they can pay for it in time.
