For some reason, 30 in 30 finished with one of the crappest ride of the month. 14 miles of shit. Punctures, of the mysterious kind. Rushed. Cut short due to time constraints. Plans to head back out tonight on the road bike abandoned.

Oh well.

So, what is there to say? I feel okay, if a little tired. Stronger. Getting up various climbs with less effort. Sometimes it’s hard to nail the more tech stuff as it’s hard to concentrate because of the tiredness on some rides.

Overall though, it wasn’t as hard as you’d think.

The big issue was finding the time. A young family and full time job with long hours isn’t conducive to an easy 30 in 30.

What’s next then? 2 hrs a day isn’t possible. I can’t go for 50 as I have a weekend away next weekend sans bike.

I have the beginnings of an idea forming though….

Now, time to figure out how to get to SSUK in a month and where to stay.

The best laid plans and all that…..

I get up (there’s no post club pub night hangover, which is nice), the sun is shining through the window, make breakfast for the kids, hang out with them for a wee while, bfore making a move outside, just as the blue sky disappears and is replaced by grey clouds. The rain starts as I walk to the garage and the freezing wind joins it in due course.

So, a short 1 hr blast today instead of something longer.

1 day to go. I need to do something special.

28 days and 29 rides in. A pootle up to the forest in the drizzle, dogs being a pain in the ass, slippy conditions. A couple of bits of trailwork done (well, someone has to do it….) and some sweet singletrack on the way back down the hill to the exit.

2 days to go.

So, 27 days in and the last post-work ride. Nothing major to report, other than wobbly feeling wheels.

Tomorrow, some Blairadam action with Stewie, Saturday some road, some MTB and Sunday, hopefully something nice on the way to my folks to finish this all off……

No rollers for me. \oo/

17 miles on the road after work in pissy rain. Not fun.

Never mind. I got to play “count the attempts on my life”, which is always a fun game.

Disturbingly enough, I’m kind of getting into this road malarky……
